35- The 10,000 Hour Rule Is A Lie.

I still remember reading about Malcolm Gladwell’s 10,000-hour rule almost a decade ago.

It was comforting in many ways because it essentially promised that 10,000 hours of hard work would eventually lead to mastery and success.

However, there is an unstated caveat: for the 10,000-hour rule to be valid, the environment in which you gain mastery cannot change.

Just imagine if the rules of chess changed every year. The cycle of mastery gets reset.

Mastery in a complex world is not a 10,000-hour destination. It is a continuous journey that never ends.
