148- Work and Presence

One of my favorite quotes by Chuck Close states that “#Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just get down and #work .”

It comes from the understanding that Inspiration is often a byproduct of work itself and not the other way around.

But what happens when routine work gets in the way of inspired work? Is distracted work time well spent? What about work, just for the sake of work, so that we can say we did the work?

All work is not made equal.

And while I agree that most of the work is just about showing up, the part that makes the work, work – is Presence.

If #Presence is hard to come by, it might be worth asking ourselves: What else is present for me right now, and go to work on that instead.
