Emerging industries often try to use displays of wealth to generate a feeling of legitimacy.
They throw lavish parties, flaunt luxury brand collaborations, and invite big-name celebrities to rub shoulders with them. The attention it generates translates into social and media coverage, effectively casting an illusion of legitimacy across the entire endeavor.
This illusion, however, rarely comes with #respect.
