At what point does one “deserve” to take a break?
Is it only after one hits a significant career milestone? Or after a quota of work hours has been reached? Is it measured by the amount of effort poured into resolving a problem? Or does one become deserving only when the situation is resolved?
Maybe the question isn’t whether or not we “deserve” a break – but rather whether or not we’re able to take a break.
Are we able to take a break and keep paying the bills? Are we able to take a break without negatively impacting those around us? Are we able to take a break without causing irreversible damage to a project?
Developing the ability to take breaks when needed is a better long-term strategy than waiting for some external circumstance to grant us permission.
Building breaks into our lives are part of building #resiliency. We always deserve them.
