66- Actions and priorities

Frequent fliers have had it drilled into them that “ In the event of an emergency, they need to put on their oxygen mask first before assisting others.

Those airlines are helping us establish a macro set of priorities (take care of yourself before taking care of others), resulting in a series of micro-actions that save time and align with those priorities.

Priorities control actions — but only if we define them ahead of time. Otherwise, our mood, feelings, and the need for immediate gratification compete against our long-term interests.

If you’re struggling to find time to get things done, try resetting your priorities.
